OF CONFLICTOLOGISTS
The International Association of Conflictologists (IAC)
The IAC
is a membership organization comprised of nongovernmental organizations and
centers involved in the field of conflict resolution and collaborative
decision-making, working in Russia, in the Commonwealth of Independent States
and in other countries on the research, settlement and prevention of social
conflicts for peace of the world.
Organizational
The
purpose of the International Association of Conflictologists is to enhance the formation of an
effective network for prevention, prognosis and resolution of conflicts on the
regional, national and international levels.
In order to fulfill its
purpose, the International Association of Conflictologists
is pursuing the following primary objectives:
providing
support for peace, sustained development and democracy throughout the world;
consolidating
efforts of researchers, mediators, facilitators, educators, and others involved
in the field of conflict resolution in Russia and other countries;
participating
with initiatives in elaboration of the framework of conflictological
education in
stimulating
the institutionalization of the conflictological
network in Russia and developing the international professional community of conflictologists to create a set of theoretical principles,
practical techniques, practitioners and special organizations which can be used
or addressed by all types of parties (disputants, third parties, bystanders and
authorities) to deal with difficult or intractable conflicts in constructive
ways;
providing
support for development of an effective policy of conflict resolution which
would enhance the democratic reformations of the contemporary Russian society
and new independent states;
ensuring the elaboration and improvement of theoretical
research, empirical studies and education in the field of conflict resolution.
The
means and strategies for attaining the objectives aimed by IAC:
participation
in the international associations, projects and actions; creation of the net
which links together the regional conflictological
centers in Russia and in the Commonwealth of Independent States and which is
open for new corporate members;
creation
of conflict resolution schools, elaboration of special customer-oriented
educational programs, conducting of conflictological
workshops and trainings;
raising
the level of high school teachers' skills in reading conflictological
courses;
development
of an information management system that accumulates the vast amount of
information in the field of conflictological theory,
practice and education in
organization
of the search, selection and dissemination of the innovation ideas, the best
experiences in the field of peace studies and conflict resolution education in
providing
informational links among conflict resolvers,
fostering communication and mutual assistance among members of the IAC;
organization
of roundtables, conferences, concourses and installations dedicated to the
practice and public understanding of conflict resolution;
participation
in national and international programs for enhancing the peace culture, in
elaboration of public policies of conflict regulation;
conflict
resolution consulting, providing conflictological
expertise, monitoring and prognosis of social conflicts;
participation
in negotiation process and mediation in conflict resolution;
providing
support for peace and democratic development; protection of human rights and
freedoms;
preparation and effectuation of joint research,
educational and practical projects with Russian and foreign partners.
We invite to cooperation
all the persons and organizations concerned. We hope to establish close
relationships with all Russian and foreign organizations and foundations that
share the mission and objectives of the IAC.
The
main program directions of the IAC:
Political conflicts,
economical conflicts (intra- and inter-organizational conflicts, disputes in
the area of work relations, commercial and customers disputes, conflicts
between business and authorities), ethnic and cultural conflicts, family
disputes, conflicts in the area of education and other conflicts between individuals,
groups, and organizations.
The forms of the IAC’s activities:
- Scientific researches. Social tensions
monitoring surveys.
- Management of inter-organizational
relations in the research field.
- Education and training.
- Popularization.
- Consulting.
- Participation in conflict resolution.
Expertise and mediation.
There are several
departments in the structure of the IAC: “Political Conflicts”,
“Socio-Economical Conflicts”, “Administrative Conflicts”, “Juridical
Conflicts”, “Ethnic Conflicts”. Each of them implements
a special program of the IAC. There is also the Informational Methodological
Center (IMC) and the

corporate members the nongovernmental and governmental conflictological
organizations acting in the variety of regions of
The ruling of the IAC is
executed by the general meeting which takes place once in five years. Between
the general meetings the IAC is administered by the IAC’s
presidium and by the secretariat which are located in
